Debbie Dye, Founder of Augusta Youth School of Dance
Debbie Dye, Founder of Augusta Youth School of Dance, believes in teaching children basic dance principles that will serve them well the rest of their lives.
Debbie Dye is the founder of Augusta Youth School of Dance, one of the area’s preeminent dance schools. Debbie is also one of our most experienced dance instructors. With over 40 years of dance and teaching experience, Debbie believes that the preschool age is the perfect time for children to learn basic dance principles and that this will serve them well the rest of their lives. She has trained thousands of students, primarily in the Augusta and North Augusta area, in ballet, tap, jazz, and fitness. Debbie Dye is focused on providing the best atmosphere of discipline, learning and fun.
Molly Peoples – Owner/Artistic Director
Molly Peoples began dance at the age of 2-1/2. She has now been dancing for more than 20 years. She is the niece of Debbie Dye. She began student teaching at the age of 13 and is now the artistic director and owner. Molly teaches ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and hip hop to children of all ages. When not dancing in the studio, Molly teaches in our outreach program in daycare centers. Here she teaches ballet and fitness to preschoolers. Her passion is to inspire and motivate young dancers to chase their dreams. Molly brings her positive attitude and energy into our studio. Molly looks forward to sharing her passion and style of dance with all her students.
Jessica Haskins – Dance Instructor
Jessica Haskins began dancing at the age of five and has loved dance ever since. She began student teaching when she was twelve and now has been dancing for over twenty years. She has trained under Debbie Dye, Pam Colson-Moye, and April Hartsell. Jessica attended college at Augusta University for 3 ½ years and Southern New Hampshire University for one year, where she graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. By day, she is a banker at Queensborough National Bank & Trust Company and teaches with us at night and on weekends. Jessica loves sharing her passion of dance with her wonderful students. “Dancing has taught me wonderful leadership skills, determination, team work, self-discipline and has given me a sense of positive self-image. I am where I am in life from the skills I have learned from dance.
Kaleigh Killebrew – Dance Instructor
Kaleigh (Brill) Killebrew began dancing at the age of 2 in Lowell MA. In 20 years of dance experience, Kaleigh studied Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop and Competitive Irish Step Dancing. Kaleigh married her husband Scott in 2008, and they have two beautiful girls, Tessa and Brynne. Both girls and Kaleigh study dance at Augusta Youth School of Dance.
Kaleigh holds an associates degree in Early Childhood Education. When she is not in the dance studio, Kaleigh is a preschool teacher, Travel Agent, PTO President and Independent Scentsy Consultant, in addition to being a mom and wife. Kaleigh’s all-time favorite quote is, “Dance is the hidden language of the soul”. -Martha Graham
Keely Miller – Dance Instructor
Keely Miller first started as a student of Mrs. Debbie Dye at the age of 3 and has been dancing for over a decade. She became an assistant instructor after high school and has now come back to join us as one of our main instructors. Over the years her passion to express love through dance never went unnoticed. She is excited to be back with her dance family and all the kids. As an instructor, her goal is to inspire her dance students to work hard and dream big. Keely will be teaching ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip-hop classes to our students. When Keely isn’t teaching or attending dance classes she is being a mother to her 2-year-old son as well as a full-time student at Virginia College where she will graduate in March of 2019. Keely looks forward to interacting with our students and parents during the upcoming dance year.
Haley Sullivan – Dance Instructor
Haley Sullivan became a dancer at the age of 3 years old and has enjoyed dancing to this day. She started out as a student teacher and was trained by her Aunt, Debbie Dye. Haley is one of the dance instructors for Augusta Youth School of Dance and enjoys teaching many young passionate dancers. She has been dancing for over twenty years now and has been trained by amazing dance instructors as well as artistic directors. Haley attended college at Augusta University and has graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Haley also received an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and is currently working on her Master of Arts in Teaching degree, with a concentration in Elementary Education at Augusta University. Haley is currently a substitute teacher for Columbia County Board of Education and is finishing her Master’s Degree to become an elementary school teacher. She expresses her style and creativity through dance and loves to share that with her students. Haley enjoys nothing more than dancing with family and friends throughout her many years as a dancer.
A Family Affair
Debbie is proud of her nieces Molly, Haley, and Blair. They began dancing over 20 years ago. Dance has been a very important part of their lives. They continue to be very active in our school, and we are proud to have them.
